Koonung Heights are delighted to announce the signing of promising English all-rounders, Elliot Young, and Jack Needham, for their 2022/23 Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association campaign.

Elliot Young

Young is an exciting prospect who, a few years ago featured for the North of England in ECB’s Super 4s competition.

This completion plays a vital part of the ECB’s player pathway, serving to provide development opportunities for high-potential players and assess the current readiness and future potential of players. This competition has already served its purpose – Young played alongside the likes of Harry Brook and Matty Potts, who seem destined for English stardom.

Young, who also represented Cheshire through the age groups, and the Lancashire Academy alongside current first-team stars Josh Bohannon and Danny Lamb, is now playing club cricket for his childhood club, Hawk Green in the Cheshire County League.

He returned to the club in 2021, following stints in the ECB Premier League for Marple and Hyde (2015-20). His most prolific season came in 2019, scoring 993 runs alongside 27 wickets at 15.41.

Unfortunately, Young sustained a back injury last summer, but has since returned this season and has hit the ground running, and is now part of the Cheshire Minor Counties T20 squad.

Jack Needham

Needham is a hugely talented seam bowling all-rounder from Cheshire, England. Needham is a front-line, right-arm quick and hard-hitting, left-handed middle-order batter.

Needham played for his county, Cheshire, right up to under 19s level, and excelled with both bat and ball right through the system. Unfortunately, the youngster narrowly missed out on selection for the Lancashire Academy. Needham plays for his boyhood club Hawk Green Cricket Club in the Cheshire County Cricket League and has been one of the standard performers for the 1st XI side for several years.

Despite his youth, the all-rounder has racked up over 2,000 runs for the 1st team at an average of over 30 with the bat and is approaching 150 wickets with the ball, at an average of under 17. The all-rounder is also an excellent fielder and qualified coach.

Heading down under…

Both Young and Neesham remain exciting prospects who are now set to embark on journeys of a lifetime having signed to play for Koonung Heights Cricket Club in Melbourne for their 2022/23 Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association campaign.
