Richmond is pleased to announce the signing of British-born Kiwi seamer Ryan Quinn for their 2023 Middlesex League campaign.
Quinn is an exciting and valuable talent for Auckland A and has been a dominant force in the Auckland Premier Men’s competition.
A right-arm seam bowling all-rounder, Quinn has played Auckland A alongside Auckland Aces players Martin Guptill, Sean Solia, and Adithya Ashok. Quinn has been a mainstay for a star-packed Takapuna line-up including Auckland Aces players such as Robbie O’Donnell, Will O’Donnell, Ross Ter Braak, Danru Ferns, and Dutch International Max O’Dowd.
Playing in this Aces-heavy National Championship-winning side, he earned himself Takapuna Premier Men’s best all-rounder and also the top bowler for the 2020/21 season. Quinn took 42 wickets at an average of 21.52 beating his previous 2019/20 season of 38 wickets at an average of 18.92 in the Auckland Premier League. To add to his bowling prowess Quinn has multiple premier half-centuries with a high score of 83.
Quinn played for Auckland A and Takapuna men in the 2021/22 season taking 29 wickets but unfortunately, his season was cut short due to injury. The highlight of his season was his 5 wickets against a strong Cornwall Cricket Club line-up rolling through their top 4 including the wicket of Blackcaps batsman George Worker.
Craig Cachopa the former Auckland Aces Captain, Sussex County Player, and Takapuna Premier coach says “Ryan is an exceptionally talented guy who is a great teammate and club man! His bowling is uncomfortable to face, and he’s got the pace and skill to change a game in a spell”.
The youngster has joined North Shore Cricket Club for a new opportunity this summer as he looks to push for higher honours. Quinn is a proven leader, having captained his high school first XI, Auckland under 17 national winning side, and vice-captain of Takapuna Premier men.
The UK passport holder who has previously enjoyed two seasons with Finchampstead (2018-19: Home Counties Premier League) is now set to return for a third UK stint in 2023 having signed with Richmond for their Middlesex County League campaign.
