Cate Pedersen is a hugely exciting top-order batter playing for the Central Districts Hinds in New Zealand domestic cricket.
Pedersen was rewarded with her first Hinds contract last summer (2022/23) following a glittering junior career for both Hawkes Bay and Central Districts.
For CD, she was amongst the highest run-scorers at the National U15 tournament and was named MVP. She scored an unbeaten 100* in the national U18 final, then topped the U19 tournament run charts in 2020, culminating with New Zealand U19 selection.
Pedersen has also excelled for the Hawkes Bay at representative level, and in 2021/22 was awarded the "Batting", and "Players' Player" awards. She also topped the charts at club level for Napier Tech Cricket Club Women to earn the batting award.
Whilst at University in Auckland, she also features for Parnell Cricket Club. In 2021/22 she averaged over 50 in his competition with a highest score of 110.
The former Hawkes Bay Secondary School "Female Player of the Year" (2018), and CD "U19s Women's Player of the Year" (2020/21), is a serious prospect who has now made her way into the Hinds set-up and is pushing to cement his spot.
Pedersen aspires to play for New Zealand in future, and in a view towards her development is seeking a season abroad in 2025.
