Ijaz Ahmadzai is a hugely exciting prospect with a big future in the game, who broke into the Afghanistan T20 side against Ireland in March 2024.

A schoolboy prodigy, Ahmadzai represented Afghanistan through the age-groups (U16s, U19s) and was a stand-out performer.

He toured India with the U16s before going on to play 11 matches for the U19s, including the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies (Jan/Feb 2022).

Ahmadzai was one of his sides shining lights throughout the tournament hitting 190 runs from the middle-order all with an average of 31.66 and strike rate of 86.75.

The highlight of his tournament was his hard-hit 81 from 79 balls (5x4s, 5x6s) against Australia in the 3rd place play-off.

Since the World Cup, he has gone on to made his professional debuts across the three formats (for Boost Region and Kabul Eagles, respectively).

A serious batting talent, last summer Ahmadzai struck his maiden first-class century, and also bagged 2 wickets with his seam-up in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament final.

Courtesy of his domestic success, he was selected for Afghanistan A's tour to Oman (Oct 2023) and was then whisked into the national side, making his T20 debut in March 2024.

Ahmadzai is a serious prospect who is now seeking opportunities abroad and is a player that comes highly recommended.
