Maghull is pleased to announce the signing of Sri Lankan all-rounder Madhawa Nimesh for their 2023 Liverpool League campaign.
Nimesh is a talented batting all-rounder playing for Kalutara Town in Sri Lanka’s domestic competitions.
Playing alongside fellow CricX stars including Nipuna Gamage and Yohan Mendis, Nimesh comes highly recommended by legendary Sri Lankan league pro, Gamindu Kanishka.
An intelligent cricketer who bats in the middle order and bowls medium pace. He boasts batting averages of 26.97 and 30.54 in first-class and List A respectively.
A former schoolboy prodigy, Nimesh was a stand-out for the prestigious Royal Pandura College – skippering each of the age-group sides.
He went on to captain the Sri Lanka Under-15’s, and vice-captain the Under-17’s on their Malaysian and UK tours, respectively. Nimesh was then named in the Sri Lankan Under-19 World Cup squad but failed to make the final touring party.
In December 2016, Nimesh made his professional debut and he has since played 63 matches for sides including Panadura Sports Club, Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club, and Kalutara Town.
Nimesh is a very competent all-rounder who enjoyed his maiden UK stint in 2021 playing for Home Counties Premier League club Finchampstead, averaging 28.33, and 25.21 with bat and ball respectively. He enjoyed decent success which he replicated during his second UK stint in 2022 for Killyclooney in the North West Cricket Union.
For 2023, he is set on a third stint, this time he’ll join Maghull Cricket Club for their Liverpool and District Cricket Competition campaign.
