CricX are thrilled to announce Bonbeach Cricket Club’s signing of Mollie Ovenden for the 2023/24 Season.

Ovenden is an exciting younger bowling all rounder from Yorkshire, England who is continually performing in both men’s and women’s cricket.

Since making her men’s senior debut in 2018, she has played an impressive 82 games taking nearly 100 wickets at an average of 23.56 in men’s league games alone, this including career best figures of 5/70. As well as this Mollie also has proven run scoring ability, scoring a best of 65* in a tough run chase in 2022. Mollie has continued to excel in Men’s cricket and was made captain of the club 2XI aged 14. As for women’s senior cricket Mollie made her debut at the age of 12 and was captaining the side by the age of 14, she has played over 40 games for various womens sides and has regularly taken wickets and scored runs, including a best of 53* in a T20 cup semi final in 2022.

Having had stellar seasons in 2020 and 2021 which earned Mollie the accolade of the ‘Rising Star award’ from the Yorkshire Cricket Board in 2021 she continued to worked hard throughout both the summers and winters, However, unfortunately this was not able to built on as Mollie ended up missing a large part of the 2022 season due to injury. However, Mollie began training again over winter and completed a preseason tour to Bangalore, India in April and has been back playing and working hard in the 2023 season. Whilst the English weather has forced many games to be abandoned this year, Mollie is now beginning to pick up good form again, this year’s best figures being 3/8 from 5 overs.

Mollie is also a budding young cricket coach who has already gained a Level 2 coaching qualification from the ECB which she uses to work with the Yorkshire Girls U11,U13,U15 and U18 sides as well as leading regional girls hubs. As well as this Mollie also coaches at multiple different local clubs, including being the Head Coach of a rapidly growing girls section at a club.

We wish Mollie & Bonbeach CC all the best for their upcoming campaign.
