CricX are delighted to announce Wainuiomata Cricket Club’s signing of Ben Coddington for their 2023/24 campaign.

Coddington is an exceptional opening batter from Leicester, England.

The impressive talent currently plays for the famous Wimbledon Cricket Club in the Surrey Championship Premier Division. Having formerly represented Northamptonshire CCC at 2nd XI level, Ben averages over 50 in County 2nd team cricket. The right-hander has also been consistently scoring runs in club cricket for a number of years. The 24-year-old has amassed 2,669 runs @ 44.50 across 3 ECB Premier competitions.

Most recently, Ben opened the batting in the Wimbledon side that won the 2022 Surrey Premier Division, scoring a match winning 120 not out in the penultimate round of fixtures. In the final game of the 2022 campaign, Ben was part of an opening stand of 155 with current professional, Nick Welch. This partnership turned out to be a match winning performance and secured the title for Wimbledon on the final day of the season.

Ben has also played 3 combined seasons of National Counties Cricket for Bedfordshire and Lincolnshire respectively before his move to London. The Leicestershire born batter had a short stint last winter at Taylors Lakes CC in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association. Churning out 275 runs at an average of 91.67 from 5 fixtures, Coddington produced notable scores of 100* and 97* in helping his side to pick up their only two wins of the season.
