Playing under the leadership of BRC skipper, Duvindu Tillakaratne, in a side that also features experienced UK club pros Nimanda Madushanka, and Dulash Udayanga, the opening bat has played 31 domestic matches since his debut for Negombo during the 2017/18 season.
Whilst he hasn’t set first-class cricket alight, averaging late-teens in his opening 9 Major League matches, Dalpethado is certainly a far better cricketers than his stats suggest.
A schoolboy star, the BRC batter represented his College, and District sides throughout the age-groups. He starred in numerous “Big Match” and “Battle of the Saints” matches, including a record-breaking partnership (previously held for 50 years) of 157 for the 8th wicket.
After being awarded School Colours for Cricket, he broke into Club and Mercantile Sector representation, and was selected to play for Negombo in 2017/18, before stints with Kalutara Town, and Lankans, before his move to BRC this summer.
The former skipper of the SLIM campus team for the World Red Bull tournament (2021), Dalpethado is eager to progress in the game, and aims to cement his spot in the BRC side this summer. Thereafter, he is keen to play UK club cricket, ideally in/around Reading (Berkshire) where he has accommodation.
