Abu Jayed is a former Bangladesh Test seamer seeking a UK return in 2025 following his Birmingham League stint in 2023.
The right-arm swing bowler represented Bangladesh in 18 matches, including 13 Tests, between 2018 and his final match in November 2021. During this period, Jayed bagged 39 wickets - 30 at 37.26 with best figures of 4-71 in Test cricket.
Whilst the seamer hasn't featured for Bangladesh since, he continues to excel in domestic cricket, with season first-class tallies of 22 wickets at 26.40 (2022/23), and 26 wickets at 27.75 (2023/24). His first-class tally now stands at 310 wickets at 29.43 in 110 games spanning more than a decade.
During his illustrious career, alongside his exploits on the international scene, Jayed has been a Tri-Nations Series, Bangladesh Premier League, and Bangladesh Cricket League winner. He boasts excellent numbers across the three formats, and recently showed his has ability with the bat scoring a first-class best of 69 (Nov 2023) - his second red ball fifty plus score.
