Royal the Hague Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of Wellington A all-rounder, Jed Wiggins, for their 2024 Dutch Topklasse campaign.
Wiggins is a talented batting all-rounder coming through the Wellington pathway system in New Zealand.
A top-order batter who bowls off-spin, Wiggins plays for Premier League powerhouse Eastern Suburbs, arguably New Zealand’s most successful club.
This summer, he is currently second on the Ewen Chatfield run charts (309 runs at 39), and has helped Easts to the final. Rolling back a few years, he was an integral member of their Championship winning one-day campaign (2021/22), topping the wicket tally in addition to 333 runs at 55.50, which included a valuable 64 in the final. That summer, he finished second on the CricHQ MVP charts.
Courtesy of his club exploits, Wiggins has generated representative honours with Wellington. Following an exceptional National U19 Tournament, he was selected to play for Wellington A against Zimbabwe U19s in 2018. Since then, he has been a regular feature for the A side and he has high aspirations to break into the Firebirds set-up in future.
After successful stints in both England (2022 – Almondbury Wesleyans), and Ireland (2023 – Phoenix), Wiggins is now set to venture to the Netherlands in 2024 having recently signed with Royal the Hague Cricket Club for their Topklasse campaign.
