Chathura Randunu has been one of Sri Lankan cricket’s most prolific domestic performers for the best part of two decades.
Having made his debut during the 2007/08 season, Randunu has gone on to play 200 plus matches across the three formats, across a range of professional teams. During this period, the left-arm spin bowling all-rounder has racked up 440 plus wickets with an averaging in the mid-20s with 21 five-wicket hauls. Whilst known for his tweak, Randunu has proven himself to be an accomplished lower-middle order batter with highest scores of 86, and 59, in first-class, and List A, respectively.
The veteran Sri Lankan has also excelled abroad during his 4 previous UK stints. 1,400 runs averaging mid-20s and 152 wickets at a shade below 16 represents serious returns for clubs including Alsager (North Staffs League – 2022), Astley & Tyndsley (GMCL – 2019, 2021), and Epsom (Surrey Championship – 2015).
Randunu, who doubles as an enthusiastic ECB Level 2 coach, is now eager to continue his overseas adventures over the next few years. He has targeted a UK club for the 2025 season, before a stint down under thereafter. A high-class performer – the Sri Lankan is certainly a player we strongly recommend to any club!
