Joseph Lalthankhuma is a promising batting all-rounder playing for Mizoram across all forms of Indian domestic cricket.
A dynamic top-order batter who bowls off-spin, Joseph recently (Oct 2024) shared a record-breaking undefeated 384-run partnership with CricX star, Agni Chopra against Arunachal Pradesh. After taking career-best figures of 4-21 in the first innings, Joseph would then bring up his maiden Ranji Trophy hundred, finishing 128 not out. His exploits helped Mizoram to a huge 267-run victory in their Plate Group match.
Joseph's all-round ability has never been in question. He has excelled at club level in recent years, taking out the 1st Cricket Association of Mizoram's 'Cricket of the Year' during the 2022/23 season. He has also been Ramhlun Venglai's 'Best All-Rounder' in each of the past three seasons.
It seems only a matter of time before Joseph realised his potential on the Ranji Trophy stage. His domestic numbers do not evidence ability, but clearly his recent Ranji exploits lay testament to his potential for higher honours. Joseph has already earned North East Zone selection for the prestigious Duldeep Trophy competition - the only Mizoram playing to do so, and he's hoping another strong Ranji season will result in further selection in future.
An exciting all-rounder, Joseph is now looking to follow in the footsteps of his Mizoram team-mates, including the likes of Mohit Jangra, and KC Cariappa, who both excelled in UK club cricket last summer (for Highfield and Mildenhall, respectively). Much is expected of this talented all-rounder ahead of the UK 2025 season.
