Recommended by long-standing CricX star Raminda Wijesooriya, the bowling all-rounder has played 12 matches (7 FC, 5 List A) to date where he has enjoyed tremendous success.
Prior to his move to Panadura Sports Club last summer, the offie starred for Chilaw Marians in Sri Lanka's Major League Tournament (FC). Despite limited opportunities due to the depth of the Chilaw squad, Nuwantha bagged 11 wickets in his 2 first-class matches (at 15.81), with best match figures of 8-103. He now sits on 17 wickets at 18.76, all with an economy rate of 2.91 in first-class. This on top of his 9 wickets at 20 in his 5 List A matches to date, which includes his career best figures of 4-16.
Nuwantha has often been used to open the bowling for his various sides, given his control with the new ball. With the bat, whilst he has yet to prove his ability in domestic cricket, the fact he's slotted in ahead of notable players (including the likes of Pulina Tharanga and Nimesh Vimukthi) at 7-8 in recent years clearly evidences his talent.
