Despite a temporary absence from the national setup, Munyonga returned stronger in 2022, contributing in series against Namibia, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh before earning a spot in Zimbabwe’s squad for the tour of Australia and the T20 World Cup.
His journey began in November 2017, making his first-class debut for the Rising Stars in Zimbabwe’s Logan Cup. By February 2018, he had already made waves in List A cricket, claiming the "Player of the Series" award in the Rising Stars’ victorious Pro50 Championship campaign.
Munyonga’s talent has also shone in the UK, where he has had three successful stints. In 2019, he delivered exceptional performances for Rockingham Colliery in the South Yorkshire Cricket League, amassing 734 runs at 43.18 and taking 31 wickets at 18.30. He returned in 2021 with another strong season (594 runs at 28.29, 33 wickets at 19.88) before impressing for Wickford in the Essex League in 2022 (277 runs at 30.78, 18 wickets at 14.39).
Now a seasoned performer with international experience and a proven track record in domestic and league cricket, Munyonga is set to return to the UK having signed with Ryton for their 2025 Northumberland & Tyneside Senior Cricket League campaign.
