Balbriggan is delighted to announce the signing of talented Australian player Jaimie-Lee Strang for their 2023 season.
Strang is quite the prospect playing in Queensland Premier Cricket for Gold Coast Dolphins, following her switch from Ipswich Logan Hornets this summer.
An incredibly promising batter who can either keep wicket or bowl seam-up, Strang broke into Women’s Grade cricket in 2018 and has now played over 100 senior matches. She is experienced beyond her age.
Strange played regional representative cricket up to the age of 15, often skippering sides to titles. She was vice-captain of the Hornets 2nd Grade side in 2019/20 before becoming a 1st Grade regular the following season. She has, in recent seasons, also represented the Queensland Country side.
Whilst known for her wicket-keeping skills, in recent years she’s developed into a genuine all-rounder who is equally proficient in the field, with a big arm and good hands. She is also a very useful seamer who has started to bowl in Queensland Premier Cricket in recent times.
Coaching wise Strang has her Cricket Australia level 1 coaching certificate, and works for K78 Cricket Coaching and Consultancy as a private coach. She has significant coaching experience given her age.
The talented Australian headed to England last summer to become the first ever overseas player for Leigh Cricket Club. Playing in the Cheshire Women’s Cricket League, Strange impressed hitting 535 runs at 26.75 before returning home to join the Dolphins for the 2022/23 season.
Strang is a serious talent who, having thoroughly enjoyed her maiden stint abroad is now set on another in 2023 having signed to play in Ireland for Leinster club Balbriggan.
