Beckenham is delighted to announce the signing of stand-out South African all-rounder Malusi Siboto for their 2024 Kent League campaign.
Siboto is a distinguished figure in South African cricket, renowned for his exceptional bowling skills and unwavering dedication to the sport. Hailing from a nation with a rich cricketing heritage, Siboto has carved out a name for himself through his remarkable performances on the field.
Siboto’s journey in professional cricket began with his inclusion in the Free State cricket team squad for the 2015 Africa T20 Cup, where he showcased his talent and caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts. His masterwork earned him further opportunities on the global stage.
In August 2017, Siboto was selected to represent the Cape Town Knight Riders in the inaugural season of the T20 Global League, demonstrating his ability to thrive in high-pressure environments. Despite the initial postponement and subsequent cancellation of the tournament, Siboto’s talent remained undeniable.
Continuing to excel in domestic cricket, Siboto joined the Highveld Lions team for the 2018–19 season, reinforcing his reputation as a valuable asset in the cricketing world. His outstanding contributions were recognized when he was awarded the 2018-2019 bizhub Highveld Lions Fans’ Player of the Season, a testament to how impactful his energy on and off the field were on local fans.
Malusi Siboto has not only showcased his skills with the ball but has also been recognized for his leadership and strategic acumen within various cricket teams. In October 2018, he was named in Cape Town Blitz’s squad for the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament, where he played a pivotal role as a key bowler in the team’s lineup. His ability to deliver under pressure and provide crucial breakthroughs contributed significantly to the team’s success throughout the tournament.
Similarly, in September 2019, Siboto was selected to be part of the Durban Heat squad for the 2019 Mzansi Super League tournament. As a seasoned cricketer with a wealth of experience, Siboto’s role extended beyond his performances on the field. He served as a mentor to younger players, offering guidance and support to his teammates while also leading by example with his exceptional work ethic and commitment to excellence
Siboto’s prowess with the ball continued to shine as he was named the Imperial Lions Bowler of the Season for the 2019-2020 4 Day Series, showcasing his consistency and effectiveness in longer formats of the game.
The following seasons brought further accolades for Siboto, as he was named the Imperial Lions Bowler of the Season for both the T20 Knockout Challenge and CSA T20 Challenge during the 2021-2022 season. Additionally, his stellar performances earned him the prestigious title of Imperial Lions Player of the Season, solidifying his status as a key player for his team.
Beyond cricket, Siboto is also known for his brand, Game of Life, which aims to highlight and inspire individuals who aspire to win at the game of life. Through his brand, Siboto seeks to motivate and empower others to pursue their dreams with passion and determination. With his own unwavering determination and talent, Siboto continues to make significant contributions to South African cricket, inspiring aspiring cricketers, and fans alike all over the world.
Siboto is now set to return to the UK in 2024, following stints with Scottish clubs Heriots (2006), and Watsonian (2018). He will join Beckenham for their 2024 Kent League campaign.
A veteran of nearly 400 domestic games with an on-field tally over 3,000+ runs and 560 wickets, Siboto will be one to watch this summer.
