CricX are excited to announce that Buckley Ridges Cricket Club have signed Ben Wilkinson and James Anson for the 2023/24 season.

Firstly, Ben is an impressive batting all-rounder (off spin) from Yorkshire, England.

Wilkinson is a fluent left handed top order batsman, and front line off spinner who currently plays his club cricket for Welton Cricket Club in the Yorkshire Premier League North Championship Division, which is one of the strongest club structures in the ECB structure.

The Englishman had a fine 2022 season impressing with both bat and ball. Batting at 3 for the majority of the season the left hander racked up nearly 900 runs averaging in the mid thirties with a match winning high score of 129 not out against Pickering Cricket Club. Wilkinson also took 45 wickets at under 20 for the season with a best of 5-51 against Cottingham Cricket Club.

Secondly, James is a talented quick from England who currently plays for Driffield Town CC in the highly competitive Yorkshire Premier League North.

The Right-arm seamer boasts an impressive record for Driffield taking 164 wickets at 19.95 since signing in 2019. His time at the club has been a successful one with promotion coming in his first season and a maiden premier League title for the club in 2022. During this period of success James has lead from the front as the leading wicket taker during his time at the club.

At the end of the successful 2022 season James decided he wanted to improve further which lead him in the direction of the National Fast Bowling Academy. Under the guidance of the NFBA coaches including Former South African fast bowler André Nel, James has improved his action resulting in an increase in speed where he is now reaching around 85mph.

The young quick made further strides with his cricket ambitions as he made his debut for Yorkshire 2nd XI vs Derbyshire 2nd XI and contributed 8* from 10 deliveries.

We would like to wish Ben, James & everyone at Buckley Ridges CC all the best for their upcoming campaign.
