Camberley have pulled off a coup with the signing of former Cumberland star, Will Hale, for their 2024 Surrey Championship campaign.

Hale is a former Minor Counties and County 2nd XI player who has enjoyed significant success in ECB Premier League cricket for over a decade.

An opening batter of some pedigree, Hale played County 2nd XI cricket for the likes of Lancashire, Sussex, Leicestershire, and the Unicorns (2014-16), and Minor County cricket for Cumberland (2015-17).

In his 14 Minor County Championship matches for Cumberland (2015-17), Hale struck 744 runs at 35.42 with 3 fifties and 2 hundreds. In 2015, he was the leading run-scorer for Cumberland, helping them to the 3 Day Title.

At Club level, dating back to 2007, Hale has racked up 12,657 runs at 34.68 in 452 games registered on play-cricket. His tally includes 68 fifties and 14 hundreds.

Hale spent much of his early years playing senior cricket with Hallam in the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League, striking 2,325 runs at 25.01 (2009-12, 2016-17). Between his two Hallam stints, Hale enjoyed his most productive returns in Premier cricket, churning 3,152 runs at 45.68 (2013-15) in the Premier Division of the Liverpool and District Competition for Lytham, before a further 2,820 runs at 33.57 for rival club Bootle (2018-21), with whom he won the Liverpool Comp in 2019.

Unfortunately, he missed the majority of his last two seasons with Sheffield Collegiate (2022) and Lindow (2023) through a shoulder injury, and a late return (July 2023) from Australia, where he has enjoyed six dominant seasons. Hale excelled across three States (WA, Victoria, and Queensland), finishing top of the charts (and winning cricketer of the year) during this 2017/18 season in the Shepparton Cricket Association, before his most recent season yielding 509 runs at 36.38 (2022/23) to finish fourth on the Gold Coast Cricket Association run charts.

Now living in West London, Hale is set to embark on a new venture this summer having joined Surrey Championship club Camberley for their Division 2 campaign.
