Denby CC are delighted to announce the re-signing of Sri Lankan star Sanoj Darshika for the third consecutive season.
Darshika is a hugely talented batting all-rounder currently playing for Kurunegala Youth Cricket Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
The run machine has churned out 858 runs at 53.62 with a century (142) and 4 fifties in his 15 first-class matches to date, having also enjoyed stints with domestic sides Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club (2018/19-2021/22), Panadura Sports Club (2020/21), and Chilaw Marians (2019/20).
A batter who bowls useful leg spin, Darshika enjoyed a quite sensational start to his domestic career. Playing for Bloomfield in 2018/19, he racked up 509 runs at 56.55 to finish as the 6th leading run-scorer in Sri Lanka’s Premier League Tournament (Tier B). Darshika also showed his all-round skills taking 8 wickets at 21.75.
The former Prince of Wales schoolboy has, over the past two seasons, also dominated UK club cricket. Playing for Denby in the Drakes Huddersfield League (2021-22), he has churned out 2,567 runs at 64.18 with 16 fifties, and 8 centuries, with a highest score of 200* alongside 79 wickets at 16.73.
Given his exploits, both at home and abroad, in recent seasons, it’s no surprise to see Denby CC have re-signed their Sri Lankan star for a third stint in 2023.
