Highfield is delighted to announce the high-profile signing of Indian batter Sudip Chatterjee for their 2023 Liverpool and District Competition campaign.
Chatterjee is an accomplished left-handed batter who has dominated Indian domestic cricket over the past decade.
Until his recent move to Tripura, he was a mainstay of the powerful Bengal batting line-up. Following his debut (December 2012), Chatterjee has racked up over 6,000 runs across the three formats, with his Ranji Trophy (first-class) numbers particularly impressive, averaging a tick below 40 with 10 centuries.
Courtesy of his exploits, the Bengal star has played in the Duldeep Trophy and represented both India A and the Rest of India sides.
Chatterjee is a high-class performer who has enjoyed many accolades throughout his illustrious career. He averaged 40 plus in 4 successive Ranji seasons (2013/14-16/17), has been Bengal “Cricketer of the Year”, and struck a brilliant 81 during their narrow defeat to Saurashtra in the 2019/20 Ranji Trophy final.
The run machine boasts an impressive domestic record and is now set to showcase his talent in UK club cricket next summer having signed with Highfield for their 2023 Liverpool League campaign.
Speaking about the signing, skipper Mike Farrell stated the following:
I cant wait for the arrival of Sudip, his playing stats show we have signed an unbelievable talent who’s played at a top level for many years. Its another brilliant coup for our hard working Committee. Another massive bonus is the fact that Sudip is left handed which will hopefully work in our favour against slow left arm bowlers. Sudip at 31 will have bags of experience and knowledge which I’m hoping he can filter down through the team. Hopefully we can kick on from last years cup win and improvements and be challenging for promotion come the end of the 2023 season.
