Pudsey Congs is delighted to confirm the re-signing of prolific Sri Lankan batter Yohan Mendis for the 2024 season.
Yohan Mendis is a talented left-hand batter playing for Kalutara Town Club following his move from Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in 2022.
He made his first-class debut in January 2018, scoring a half-century (61), then featured in 4 matches in 2018/19. The following season he struck his maiden first-class century (116 v Negombo) and finished with 305 runs at 30.50, including a notable 62 against the star-studded Nondescripts bowling attack.
To date, Mendis has scored 634 runs at 21.86 in his 19 first-class matches, alongside averages of 18.42 and 31.50 in his 9 List A, and 5 T20 games, respectively, including a highest score of 75 (scored in the One-Day quarter-final).
A player that comes highly recommended by former Sri Lankan legend Rangana Herath, Mendis has spent two prolific (2022-23) seasons in the Bradford League for Pudsey Congs. 1,127 runs at 66.29 with 12 fifties and 2 hundreds in 2022, before a further 1,009 runs at 40.36 with 10 half-centuries in 2023.
Such was his dominance (2,136 runs at 50.86), Pudsey Congs were quick to re-sign their Sri Lankan star for a third stint in 2024.
