Ayr is delighted to announce the signing of Namibian superstar Jan Frylinck for their 2023 Western District Cricket Union campaign.

Frylinck is an accomplished international all-rounder who recently starred for Namibia at the most recent ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.

He hit the tournament in fine form, scoring 26 and taking 2/13 against Ireland in their warm-up match. He would then go on to produce a Man of the Match performance against Sri Lanka with figures of 2/24 and a 26-ball 44*. The left-arm seamer and hard-hitting batter would then follow up with performances against the Netherlands (43 and 1/16), and UAE (14 and 0/30).

The South African-born all-rounder has been a stand-out performer for Namibia since his debut in 2019. He has played 27 ODIs and 38 T20I’s for his Country and has impressed with both bat (averages of 25.17 and 20.80) and ball (averages of 25.14 and 15.55), respectively.

Prior to representing Namibia, Frylinck had spent a decade plying his trade in South African domestic cricket, following a glittering junior career which included representing South African Under-19s and Schools. He played well over 200 matches across the three formats and has excelled in both facets (3,458 runs and 289 wickets).

However, it’s his exploits for Namibia that have really impressed, following his debut against Oman that resulted in the best figures (5/13) for Namibia (and third best of all time).

Frylinck is a serious performer who is now set on a UK return in 2023. He has previously enjoyed prolific stints in both Cumbria (Cleator – 2013), and Northern Ireland (Donemana – 2015-16), but has clearly progressed as a cricketer since then.

The all-rounder is set to journey to Scotland having signed with Ayr for their 2023 Western District Cricket Union campaign.
