South Caulfield has added another English recruit to their ranks in the form of ex Loughborough star Harry Bates for their Cricket Southern Bayside campaign.
Bates is a right-arm bowling all-rounder who has recently graduated from Loughborough University.
The talented young seamer has spent the last four years (2018-2022) playing for the MCCU high-performance cricket squad, whilst also completing a BSC Applied Sports Science with Management degree.
Bates has further represented Northamptonshire County Cricket Club Academy (2018-19) and Northamptonshire 2XI at senior level between 2018-2020. More recently in 2022, the middle-order batter and tall seamer suffered from prolonged injury. These setbacks have led to the quickie taking time away from his county ambitions whilst regaining full fitness.
Now back fully fit, the 23-year-old seamer has been a regular for club side Sileby Town in the Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket League this season. Playing in the premier division, Harry’s RA fast medium took 23 wickets at 24.31.
Harry has a burning desire to still play first-class cricket. After a bright start to his career working his way through the Northamptonshire academy, the 23-year-old has suffered setbacks due to injury. Now back fit the young prospect is seeking a winter abroad to regain his form and push for higher honours on his return.
Holder of an ECB Level 2 coaching badge, the promising seamer has a lot to offer both on and off the field and we see him as a player who will contribute significantly for South Caulfield in their 2022/23 Cricket Southern Bayside campaign.
