Sandal is delighted to confirm the re-signing of Sri Lankan star, Kasun Madushanka, for their 2024 Bradford League campaign.

Madushanka is a high-class quick playing for Lankan Cricket Club in Sri Lanka.

The right-arm seamer boasts an impressive domestic record, with over 280 wickets including 196 at 30.04 in 79 first-class games.

Whilst known for his skills with the ball, he has shown glimpses of his batting ability with 2 first-class half-centuries and a highest score of 78.

A former Sri Lankan Under-19 star, Madushanka has represented the Sri Lankan Emerging Players, Under-23s, Under-25s, and various Board XI’s over the years. In October 2016, he was picked for Sri Lanka’s tour of Zimbabwe but didn’t feature. Nevertheless, he’s been in the mix since, including an “A” match against the touring South Africans in July 2018.

Madushanka is a highly respected player in Sri Lankan circles who has also enjoyed four fantastic seasons in UK league cricket.

In 2017, he excelled during his maiden stint with Lancaster in the strong Northern ECB Premier League (47 wickets at 15.02 and 349 runs at 19.39), before helping Skelmanthorpe to the Drakes Huddersfield League (Championship Division) title in 2021 (457 runs at 45.70 and 55 wickets at 12.93).

He would go on to impress in both 2022 and 2023, playing for Cleator in the Cumbria Premier League (36 wickets at 15.78), and Sandal in the Bradford League (574 runs at 24.96 and 48 wickets at 18.02), respectively.

Recommended by various coaches, including former Sri Lankan High-Performance Coach Simon Willis, Madushanka is now set to return to Sandal for a second stint in 2024.
