St Albans is delighted to announce the signing of English due Joe Lowe and Jacob Holland for their 2022/23 Christchurch Metro Cricket Association campaign.
Lowe is a talented leg-spin bowling all-rounder, originally from Lancashire, but now playing his cricket down south for Flitwick in the Hertfordshire League (Championship Division).
After successful stints in the Liverpool and District Premier Competition, he moved south and has spent two prolific seasons with Flitwick (2021-22) bagging 136 wickets at 16.54 alongside 709 runs at 23.63 with the bat.
Over the past two seasons, his success at club level has generated representative honours, playing Minor County cricket for Bedfordshire.
Lowe has also enjoyed a productive stint abroad, when back in 2018/19 he impressed for Busselton Margaret River (WA) taking 31 wickets at 13.50 with an impressive economy of 3.5.
Holland is a promising left-arm seamer playing for Vernon Carus in the strong Northern ECB Premier League.
Vernon Carus, which was the host Club of Freddie Flintoff’s latest BBC show, Field of Dreams, played their maiden stint in the Northern League this summer having earned promotion from the Palace Shield Premier Division the previous season.
The towering, 6’5″ quick, Holland starred in the League bagging 36 wickets at 22.22 including best figures of 7-36 v Lancaster. The previous season he topped the Palace Shield bowling averages with 49 poles at 13. He has clearly made the step up to the big leagues, and also added 401 runs at 25.06 to evidence his ability from the lower order too.
Holland has enjoyed plenty of success through the years, starting by representing his district league representative sides through the age groups. He featured in the Northern Premier League’s first-ever Hundred representative XI, and has now targeted higher honours in future.
Both lads are eagerly looking forward to their winter in New Zealand for St Albans where they’ll play in the Christchurch Metro Cricket Association.
