Swindon is pleased to confirm the signing of Sri Lankan Emerging Players young gun, Yohan Liyanage, for their 2024 West of England Premier League campaign.

Liyanage is an exciting bating all-rounder playing for the prestigious Ragama Cricket Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.

A genuine all-rounder, Liyanage is a strong left-handed top-order bat who doubles as a front-line off-spinner. A schoolboy prodigy, Liyanage’s cricketing journey started at the Sanath Jayasooriya Cricket Foundation in 2010, before excelling at President’s College Kotte, and Thurston College Colombo, respectively.

During his final two College seasons, Liyanage dominated the Under-19 Division One Inter School Tournament with tallies of 711 runs and 18 wickets (2018/19), and 561 runs and 50 wickets (2019/20).

Roll on September 2022 and Liyanage would make his first-class debut for Ragama, having already featured in white ball cricket earlier in the year. It’s fair to say, Liyanage impressed striking a quite sensational 100-ball 106 on debut against Police Sports Club.

Liyanage has now played almost 20 matches across the three domestic formats and looks set for a very bright future. Sri Lanka Cricket has already recognised his ability with selection for the Sri Lankan Emerging Team tour of Japan (July 2023).

Moving forward, the talented all-rounder is set to embark on his maiden journey abroad in 2024 having signed with Swindon for their West of England Premier League campaign.
