Callum Taylor is a genuine all-rounder who represented Glamorgan in 34 matches either side of COVID (2019-23). Born in Newport (Wales), and raised in Queensland (Australia), Taylor is an aggressive and innovative batter, quality off-spinner, and “world class” fielder.
Taylor signed professional terms with Glamorgan in 2019 after impressing in Premier club cricket for Newport and the County’s 2nd XI. He made his first team debut that season, playing four games in the T20 Blast, but had little opportunity to showcase his talents.
However, roll on August 2020, and Taylor would enjoy a remarkable County Championship debut. He scored one of the most entertaining first-class hundreds in recent memory against Northants, hitting 106 from 94 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes.
Taylor would go on to feature across the formats over the next few years, and would skipper Glamorgan’s 2nd XI to T20 Finals Day in 2023. Nevertheless, he decided to call it a day mid-way through last season in order to pursue other career opportunities.
The Welsh-born Taylor with an Australian accent, boasts impressive numbers across all formats of cricket, from club to professional cricket. A former Queensland age-group (U17, U19) player, over the past decade (2013/14-22/23), he has racked up 3,534 runs at 35.70 and 106 wickets at 27.43 playing Grade cricket in Queensland (South Brisbane, and Gold Coast Dolphins).
In the South Wales Premier League for Newport (2016-23), Taylor was arguably the league’s best all-rounder hitting 4,330 runs at 56.97 alongside 170 wickets at 20.51, which ultimately culminated with Glamorgan selection. He continued to shine with his new venture near London in 2024, hitting 748 runs at 74.80 alongside 26 wickets at 24.27 for West Herts in the Hertfordshire League.
The dual Passport holder was clearly a huge success for West Herts, so it's unsurprising he's been re-signed for their 2025 campaign.
