Dellon Peiris is an exciting prospect who, last summer, skippered the Sri Lankan Emerging Players on their tour to Japan (May 2023).
The former S. Thomas’ College, and Ragama Cricket Club all-rounder, excelled on tour and was subsequently awarded Player of the Series courtesy of topping the wicket charts and producing a couple of match-winning innings.
His selection for the Japan tour came as no surprise, as Peiris has been earmarked for higher honours in recent years. Having dominated College cricket, he starred for Ragama U23s in the Emerging Three Day Tournament (2021/22), before earning his senior white ball (T20 and List A) debuts in March 2021.
In 2022, Peiris was one of the stand-out performers for Ragama in the Major Clubs Limited Overs Tournament taking 17 wickets at 12.35 with his left-arm spin. A few months later (August 2022), he would make his first-class debut for Ragama, and he has subsequently gone on to play 5 red ball matches to date.
A serious prospect, Peiris comes recommended by famous Sri Lankan commentator, Roshan Abeysinghe, as a star for the future.
A genuine all-rounder who bats in the top/middle-order and bowls left-arm spin, the youngster spent the UK 2024 season plying his trade for Burbage & Easton Royal. It's fair to say the Sri Lankan young gun impressed in the West of England Premier League hitting 523 runs at 43.58 alongside 21 wickets at 21.96 with ball in hand.
Given the youngsters success last summer, Burbage were quick to re-sign their Sri Lankan star for a second stint in 2025.
