Dinushka Malan is a genuine seam-bowling all-rounder who has consistently delivered match-winning performances both in Sri Lanka and overseas. In 42 first-class matches, he has amassed 1,399 runs at 30.41 and taken 84 wickets at an impressive 21.60, with career-best figures of 113 with the bat and 5-22 with the ball.
Malan’s domestic breakthrough came after a stellar Emerging Players Tournament in 2015/16, where he scored 304 runs at 33.78 and claimed 37 wickets at just 15.22 for Sri Lanka Navy, earning the “Best All-Rounder” award. He carried that form into his first-class debut season, scoring 296 runs at 37.00 and taking 11 wickets, before stints with Lankan CC and Kurunegala Youth, where he posted 340 runs at 48.57, including his second first-class century, alongside 12 wickets at 17.00.
His overseas career has been equally prolific. In the UK, he has shone in both the Birmingham and Home Counties Premier Leagues, scoring 1,635 runs at 29.20 and taking 116 wickets at 15.09 for Sutton Coldfield, and 2,179 runs at 34.59 with 162 wickets at 16.81 for Thame Town. Highlights include a standout 5-wicket haul in the CricX “Overseas v English” showcase match in 2018, dismissing several high-profile players. In recent Home Counties campaigns, Malan has been unstoppable — 526 runs at 52.60 with 39 wickets at 13.74 (2022), 500 runs at 45.54 and 21 wickets at 27.76 (2023), 434 runs at 33.38 and 25 wickets at 20.44 (2024), and 439 runs at 29.27 and 48 wickets at 13.92 (2025).
