Dulaj Ashen is a promising talent currently playing for Burgher Recreation Club in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
A top order / opening batter who bowls off-spin, Ashen broke into the BRC team in September 2022 making his first-class debut in the Sri Lanka Major League Tournament. He has since gone on to play 5 matches, but has yet to showcase his undoubted talent on the professional stage.
Playing under the leadership of BRC skipper, Duvindu Tillakaratne, in a side that also features experienced UK club pros Nimanda Madushanka, and Dulash Udayanga, Ashen comes recommended as a proper talent.
A schoolboy prodigy, Ashen was a stand-out 1st XI player for the prestigious Wesley College. During his final U19 season for the school (2018/19), he acted as vice skipper and struck 760 runs alongside 30 wickets.
Now playing for BRC, Ashen is looking to cement his spot and following the 2024/25 domestic season, travel to the UK to embark on his maiden season abroad.
Whilst he has yet to evidence his ability in the infancy of his professional career, Ashen has all the attributes to excel in UK club cricket. He'll get his chance in 2025 having signed with Townville for their Bradford League campaign.
