Imran Mir is an exceptionally talented batter making waves in Afghanistan domestic cricket.
A player of considerable promise, the right-handed opener featured in 9 ODIs for Afghanistan U19s (2019-20), to include an ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa.
He has since been a stand-out performer in both first-class and List A cricket in Afghanistan. With over 2,000 first-class runs at 37 with 5 centuries, it’s no wonder Mir has been touted for full international honours.
In recent years, Mir has staked his claim for the opening spot in Test cricket courtesy of his first-class performances. After a dominant 2022/23 campaign, where he averaged 52.50, he would go on to strike a brilliant century (112) in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-Day final, taking his Maiwand Champions to the title (Sept 2023).
In May 2024, he would represent Afghanistan A against their Sri Lankan counter-parts, and again Mir would star, hitting scores of 62 and 53 in their first-class fixture.
He is currently into another strong red ball campaign and is very much in national selectors thoughts for Test cricket in future.
For now, though, the talented batter who can bowl some useful off-spin, is seeking opportunities abroad and has initially targeted a club season in England to continue learning his craft.
A fine prospect who comes highly recommended for the 2025 season.
