Johan van Dyk

Johan van Dyk is a talented seam-bowling all-rounder currently playing for Free State in South African domestic cricket. Though his career has seen intermittent spells, van Dyk has become a consistent force in red-ball cricket, earning recognition with recent selections for both South Africa A and the Emerging Players sides.

A consistent wicket-taker, van Dyk has produced impressive returns across recent seasons, including 33 wickets at 19.75 (2023/24) and 15 wickets at 15.20 (2024/25). He now boasts 129 first-class wickets at a superb average of 19.75, including eight five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket match performances—both achieved last summer. His standout displays include match figures of 10-70 (v Mpumalanga) and 10-123 (v Limpopo).

With the bat, he’s a gritty lower-order contributor, holding a first-class best of 58 and having impressed with a hard-fought 41 off 159 balls for South Africa A against India A in December 2023.

Van Dyk’s journey began through the Free State age-group system, starring at Coke Week before shining in University-level cricket and representing South Africa Emerging as far back as 2014. He enjoyed a strong UK season in 2019 with Thame Town in the Home Counties Premier League (35 wickets at 17.74) .Johan headed overseas again after signing for Oundle Town CC for their 2026 campaign and snared 22 wickets @ 15.32 in a shortened campaign. A proven red-ball performer and valuable all-round option, he’s a standout prospect for any side next summer.
