Kevin Perera is an exciting prospect starting to hit his straps in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.
A left-handed batter who bowls handy leg spin, Perera was a stand-out performer at junior level, excelling in various age-group Provincial and School tournaments.
He broke into professional cricket, making his first-class debut in 2020. The following year he was a key member of Lankan Cricket Club’s U23 Championship-winning side. In 2022 he joined his current club, Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club.
After two steady first-class and List A campaigns, Perera found his feet in professional cricket and would go on to register his maiden List A century amongst 245 runs at 81.66 in the 2024 Major One-Day Tournament (July/Aug 2024). His success culminated with Dambulla selection for the recent National Premier League tournament.
Perera has started to make his mark in domestic cricket, and it’s envisaged there’s plenty more to come for his talented youngster. In a view towards his development, Perera is eager to secure a UK opportunity for the 2025 season and we suspect he’s definitely one to watch next summer.
