Raminda “Wije” Wijesooriya is an accomplished Sri Lankan batting talent who has carved out a reputation for match-winning performances both at home and abroad. Currently representing Panadura Sports Club in Tier A domestic cricket after moving from Burgher Recreation Club in 2022/23, he has thrived in the red-ball format, amassing 1,760 runs at 31.42, including four centuries and six fifties.

Wije’s domestic journey began as a teenager with BRC, where he quickly made his mark. After a handful of games in 2017/18, he enjoyed a breakthrough 2018/19 season, scoring two of his career centuries among 465 runs at 38.75. He followed with 442 runs in 2019/20 before COVID disrupted the following campaign. His move to Panadura brought immediate success—294 runs at 36.75 in his debut season, including a career-best 125, followed by 297 runs at 49.50 in 2023/24 and another solid return in 2024/25.

In the UK, Wije has been a prolific run-scorer across several seasons, most notably with Old Elizabethans in the Worcestershire Premier League and Ifield in the Sussex League. His first Ifield campaign in 2022 yielded 807 runs at 50.44 and 25 wickets at 24.04 with his left-arm spin, and he followed up in 2023 with similar returns, including a blistering 196* from 111 balls in a run chase. In 2024, he spearheaded Ifield’s promotion push with 871 runs at 79.18 and three centuries, before adding another 645 runs last summer.

Wije has also excelled in the Elite Division of the National Cricket League with Gagan, scoring heavily in recent seasons, including 716 runs at 51.14 in 2024 and 455 runs at 50.56 in 2025. His most explosive effort came in 2023, smashing 263* from 137 balls with 21 sixes. That same summer, he starred in two T20s for CricX against the Italian national side—top scoring with 73 from 42 in the first match and hitting 4 and 6 off the final two balls to seal victory in the second. His left-arm spin has also proved a valuable asset in these fixtures.

A proven match-winner, multi-format performer, and excellent team man, Wije brings runs, wickets, and experience in abundance—qualities that make him a highly recommended professional for any side.
