Romashan Pillay is an exciting talent who, if his age group career to date has anything to go by, is destined for the big time.

Despite his tender age, Pillay has already cemented his spot in the strong Hollywoodbets Dolphins (also known as KwaZulu-Natal Coastal) set-up, in a squad that includes the likes of Keshav Maharaj, David Miller, Khaya Zondo, SJ Erwee, and Ottniel Baartman to name just a few Proteas stars.

Hailing from Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal, Pillay has represented both his province and country through the age-groups. In July 2023, he toured Bangladesh with the South African U19s, then featured for the South African Emerging Players in the CSA Provincial One Day Challenge in September 2023. Roll on January 2024, and he would represent his country at the ICC Under-19 World Cup. During this 7-month period (July 2023 - Feb 2024), Pillay played 12 ODI matches for the South African U19s.

A genuine all-rounder, Pillay is a hugely talented batter who occupies a middle-order spot in the Dolphins side. He is also a skilful seam bowler who, in his recent first-class debut (Oct 2024), picked up the wickets of Daniel Smith, and Valentine Kitime on his way to first-innings figures of 2-23 against Western Province.

The South African all-rounder has a massive future ahead of him and as part of his development, is eager to spend a season plying his trade in the UK. A player that comes highly recommended by several close sources, including former South African Test opener SJ Erwee, we suspect Pillay will be an outstanding signing for any club in 2025.
