Sachindu is an exciting 'mystery' wrist spinner making quite the name for himself in Sri Lanka, and more recently in the UK.
He burst on to the scene in top level cricket, originally as a white ball specialist, due to his consistency and wide range of variations causing problems for some high profile batters. Making his professional debut in 2019, in a T20 for powerhouses Nondescripts alongside Sri Lankan internationals such as Pathum Nissanka, Lahiru Udara, Mahele Udawatte and Chaturanga De Silva, he snared 3 wickets for 8 runs from just 2 overs, helping his team to a victory against Saracens Sports Club and in the process announcing his name as one that should be noted in years to come. Sachindu has since started to make a big impact in red ball cricket to prove he has the ability to be a match winner in all formats.
He has packed a heck of a lot in to his blossoming career so far, starring in the LPL, representing the Sri Lanka Cricket XI and U-23 team respectively. He comes highly recommended by trusted sources who confirm he has all the tools needed to bamboozle batters with his variations. Sachindu is also a highly competent batter, evidenced by his First Class best of 50* and List A best of 61*. He takes pride in his batting and used his debut stint in the UK to work on this aspect of his game.
Playing for Wellington CC in the West Of England Premier Cricket League (Prem 2), he performed brilliantly with 47 wickets at an average of 16.74 from 168.2 overs bowled and a best of 6/19. He also chipped in with 582 runs at an average of 24.25 and a high score of 96 to display his all round ability. Sachindu is now a qualified ECB 'Core Coach' and is very keen to help out with coaching throughout his next stint overseas. He is also in the middle of another outstanding season in the strong West of England Premier League for Downham Stow CC. At the time of writing and with a quarter of the season to go, he has 41 wickets at an average of 19.37 and has been a revelation in a really strong league. Opportunities with the bat have been limited due to the strength of the teams batting line up.
A pleasant, down to earth guy with all the ability in the world, Sachindu will be one of the hottest picks around for anyone seeking a match winning spinner with a bag full of tricks.
