Sam Veal (24) is an impressive wicket-keeper batsman from Auckland, New Zealand.
Currently playing Premier Grade for Auckland University Cricket Club, the youngster has made his way through the ranks of Auckland Cricket in recent seasons to become a regular fixture in the 1st XI since the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
A right handed top-order batter, Veal boasts a solid technique and has the ability to occupy the crease for long periods of time. After scoring 265 runs at an average of 26.5 for the Reserve side in 2023/24, the 'Kiwi' was fast tracked into the Premier side ahead of the current campaign, striking an unbeaten maiden half century in just his second game.
A reliable stumper, Sam's hard work over the winter has paid off and the 24-year-old has taken the gloves for the 1st XI since the start of the year; already collecting 9 victims across three 2-Day fixtures.
No doubt a terrific young prospect, Sam is now seeking his first stint in the Northern Hemisphere ahead of the 2025 UK Summer. Now a regular Auckland First-Grader, the keeper-bat will a serious pick up for his chosen club.
