Shalin De Mel is an emerging talent, currently representing Colts Cricket Club professionally in Sri Lanka.
An elegant left handed batter who bowls seam up, Shalin has dominated at every level of the game he has played in as an amateur, from schools cricket through to club cricket and was rewarded for these performances with a first class debut in August 2022. He made an immediate impact with a score of 75 from just 69 balls, opening the batting against a strong Galle attack. He now has a first class average in the 30s and if many experienced judges are to be believed, these numbers will only continue to grow over the next few years. He is a fast leaner and is currently captained by Sri Lanka international Dhananjaya Lakshan.
Shalin is also a strong seamer and would be able to be a genuine all rounder in club cricket. He has strong leadership skills and has been captain throughout his junior and amateur career. He prides himself on his work ethic, attitude and commitment to improving all aspects of his game and is a very agile and strong fielder.
