At the conclusion of his studies at Graeme College, Sonwabile moved into senior cricket ahead of the 2021/22 season. This was after successfully captaining his College throughout the 2020 season, for which Tshona was awarded Sportsman of the year for his efforts. Graduating into senior cricket the impressive right-handed stroke maker was selected for the Eastern Province Academy, before eventually progressing into the Colts side for the duration of the 2022/23 season.
A reliable and organised player, the 22-year-old carries a consistent technique which enables him to regularly battle the new ball with relative ease. Also a right-arm medium pace bowler, he is capable of bowling valuable overs in the middle periods of one day fixtures.
With ambitions to play first-class cricket in the near future, the Port Elizabeth resident has his sights set on a stint in Australia or New Zealand next season to further his skills.
