Tanbir Hayder is a batting all-rounder from Rangpur, Bangladesh.

The versatile all-rounder from Rangpur, known for his aggressive middle-order batting and leg-spin bowling. Tanbir quickly cemented himself as a promising talent.

He burst onto the first-class scene in January 2010, and his potential was quickly recognised, earning him a spot in the BCB XI for a 50-over practice match against England just a month later.

By the 2012-13 season, Tanbir had become a mainstay for Rangpur Division, delivering standout performances, including his maiden first-class century and a 10-wicket match haul. The following season was a testament to his all-round prowess, as he amassed 443 runs with two centuries and picked up 12 wickets.

In the 2015-16 National Cricket League, Tanbir showcased his consistency with over 400 first-class runs. While his bowling contributions took a backseat due to his focus on batting, his leg-spin skills remained noteworthy, particularly given the scarcity of quality leg-spinners in Bangladesh. This caught the eye of then-head coach Chandika Hathurusingha, who recognised Tanbir’s potential during a 2016 training camp.

The Bangladeshi had a memorable moment later that year, dismissing four top-order England batsmen, including Joe Root, in a four-day game. This performance earned him a spot on standby for Bangladesh's Test series against England. Despite missing most of the 2016-17 Bangladesh Premier League due to a hand injury, Tanbir’s persistence paid off with a debut in Bangladesh’s ODI squad for the New Zealand tour at the end of 2016.

Tanbir also brings valuable overseas experience from his time with JG Meakins Cricket Club in the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket League. While his on-field performances fell short of expectations, Tanbir’s off-field impact was exceptional. He took on a vital mentoring role, guiding the club’s younger players and exemplifying the professionalism and dedication expected of an overseas cricketer.

With his wealth of experience and all-round abilities, Tanbir is undoubtedly a solid addition to any club this summer.
