Thevindu Dickwella is an incredible batting talent currently opening the batting for Kandy Customs in Sri Lankan domestic cricket.

An exciting left-handed opener, dynamic fielder, and useful off-spin bowler, Dikwella has impressed during the infancy of what’s likely to be a long, and illustrious, career.

The youngster initially shot to prominence playing for Ragama U23s in Sri Lankans Emerging 3-Day Tournament (Feb-April 2022). He was one of the tournaments stand-out batters hitting 446 runs at 55.75, including a quite remarkable 214 from 276 balls (24x4s, 4x6s) against a strong Badureliya Sports Club attack.

He would go on to represent Ragama across all formats throughout the 2022 calendar year. However, limited opportunities prompted a move to current club, Kandy Customs, for the 2023/24 season.

Whilst Dickwella has yet to set domestic cricket alight, his time will no doubt come. It’s fair to say he’s already impressed national selectors with Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI selection to play against the touring Ugandan national side in February 2024.

A player that comes highly recommended by his former Ramaga U23s team-mate, Dellon Peiris, who starred for Burbage in the West of England last summer (523 runs at 43.58 and 24 wickets at 21.96 in Premier One), Dickwella is looking to follow in his mate’s footsteps and secure his first UK club opportunity.

Dickwella has got his wish by landing his first club, namely St Austell in Cornwall. The Sri Lankan youngster will be looking to impress throughout their Premier League campaign in 2025.
