Virat Singh is an extraordinarily talented batter, and current skipper of the Jharkhand side in Indian domestic cricket.
A left-handed run machine, Singh has already featured for India U19s, U23s, East Zone, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL Franchise. With 7,000 domestic runs with an average approaching 40 including 15 hundreds, it’s no wonder he’s been on India’s radar.
Singh has become somewhat of a Jharkhand State legend. Having dominated the age-group sides, to earning his India U19s selection (2016), he has been a stand-out performer for the senior side for well over a decade.
In 2021 his white ball form finally culminated with IPL inclusion, playing for SRH. In red ball, he has been a constant present for East Zone (Duldeep Trophy) since 2014, was part of the India Emerging Players squad (2017) the following year, and has been Jarkhand’s chief run-getter in Ranji Trophy cricket.
It comes as no surprise to hear Singh has also excelled abroad with 3 stints in the North East for Seaham Park. Playing either side of COVID (2018,19, 21), Singh racked up a total of 2668 runs at an average of 80.85 alongside 51 wickets at 21.04 for good measure.
Having been excluded from IPL inclusion, Singh is now available for a UK league return in 2024. An incredible signing for any club, not only for his run scoring, and wicket-taking exploits, but his leadership quality.
